Visual and Written Language - Cat

I am learning to use pictures to help me plan and illustrate my story

Elijah you enjoyed using Kidpix to create your own picture of a cat.  The picture helped you to tell a story.  Keep trying to think of things that you love to write about.  I felt proud that you managed to achieve this with support.

Welcome to Autumn

Autumn leaves fell all over Elm Park School.  This gave us a great idea.  We used Kidpix to create our own leaves and to illustrate our awesome autumn writing.

Choosing words to add interest to my Writing

I am learning to choose words to add interest to my Writing

Well done Elijah, you really thought of some original ideas and I love the dog shape in the heart you chose.  You really enjoyed using Tagul to create the shape word art.

My feelings about Celebrations

I have been learning to identify my emotions during the school day.  This was my idea to show Mrs Templeton how I was feeling.

I joined in the Pass the Parcel game as part of our celebration for Elm Park's 50th Birthday

I made a special bee headband and sat with my Mum at a School Assembly

Learning to identify sounds in words to help my reading

This term I have been learning to:

  • identify phonic letters and sounds
  • identify high frequency sight words
  • use Reading Eggs to help me learn sounds within words

I can log in by myself.  I like Reading Eggs.  Its only tricky sometimes.

Keep reading each day and logging into Reading Eggs regularly to help you learn sounds within words.  Mrs Templeton  April 2017

Learning to write the sounds I hear in words

I am learning to write the sounds I hear in words.

This term I tried to use my senses to write ideas about a storm.
e.g. "On a rainy day I see flashing light in the clouds."

I wrote about something I could see. It is tricky to write the sounds.
I like to write with a buddy.

That's a good idea Elijah.  Next term, we may do some buddy writing to trial your idea.
I am proud of the way you have tried to record sounds with me in the last few weeks.

Statistics: Learning to sort, count, display and make statements about the information

I have been learning to:

  • sort objects into categories for display and make a class pictograph with support
  • discuss the results and make statements

It was tricky to count them.  Elijah  28.02.17

Elijah it was tricky for you to reflect on you Maths but you had a go and you showed resilience.  Keep going back to the Mathletics site for Statistics to revise and keep up your skills.  Mrs Templeton  28.09.16

Settling to work in my new class

In Term One, I have been learning to:

  • Come into class independently and get organised for the day with support
  • Settle to work and complete two tasks before my special choice
  • Explain how I am feeling using pictures and words

Elijah, this picture shows how well you can occasionally do your handwriting and follow your Now, Next and Later chart.  Two classroom tasks and then your morning choice is a fun way to enjoy learning.

I would like to see you trying really hard to finish the second task and to follow instructions to be organised for the day.   Mrs Templeton  09.03.17
